Hello! My name is Kyle Van Essen. I’m a graphic designer that currently lives in Canada’s Capital, otherwise known as Ottawa. In the coming school season, I will be attending Carleton University’s School of Computer Science for a Software and Computing degree. As of now, I’m a self employed freelancer.

While I’m doing any sort of work, I enjoy having some sort of music going on in the background. These days, this includes Joe Satriani, The Beatles, ES Posthumus, Genesis, Justice, Coldplay, Rick Astley (yes, that Rick Astley), as well as various soundtracks.

While not rocking out to the timeless sounds of Rick Astley, I also enjoy listening to a number of podcasts, such as TWiT, Macbreak Weekly, The Daily GizWiz, Diggnation, FLOSS Weekly, net@night, Scam School, Security Now, Windows Weekly, Systm, Tekzilla, This Week in Media, and This Week in Photography.

As you’ve probably guessed, I’m an avid Mac user. My main work machine is a 2008 Mac Pro, with 8 cores at 2.8ghz each, with 10gb of ram. My takearound machine is a 2008 white Macbook, which runs at 2.0ghz, and has 4.0gb of ram.
